CITY REQUESTS DATE FOR NEGOTIATION ON YALE NEW HAVEN HOSPITAL PROJECT DISPUTE
(6/29/2007) MAYOR DESTEFANO REQUESTS PRESENCE OF MARNA BORGSTROM AT MEETING
NEW HAVEN- This morning the City submitted a Notice of Dispute to Yale New Haven Hospital calling for immediate relief on specific items of dispute pursuant to a development agreement between the two parties.
In an effort to achieve progress on the development of projects for which the Hospital is responsible, as defined in the agreement, Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. submitted a letter to Hospital President and CEO Marna Borgstrom requesting a meeting for negotiation to take place on Monday, July 9.
“We want to move forward and resolve this situation as soon as possible,” said DeStefano. “In order for this to happen it’s important to have Marna Borgstrom at the table so that we can negotiate our differences.”
The subject of the City’s dispute is:
a) YNHH’s apparent unwillingness to design and construct the “Lot E Project” (as defined in the Agreement) in accordance with the requirements set forth in the Agreement.
b) YNHH’s failure to make any serious progress with respect to the development of the “Park Street Project,” as defined in the Agreement.
c) YNHH’s failure to fulfill its obligation to hire one hundred residents of the City of New Haven for full-time positions with YNHH, commencing calendar year 2006 and continuing for a period of not less than five years.
